Scabious

The name 'Scabious' refers to over 100 different species of herbs. Typically it is a small perennial plant with blooms of blue, white, purple, and red.

 

The herb is thought to have originated in the Eurasian region, east Africa and around the Mediterranean. The variety of the plan the grows in southeastern Europe is especially small with a blue flower. It is cultivated for ornamental and medicinal purposes. It was used to treat internal illnesses of the nose and throat. Externally, it was used to treat skin conditions.
