Plantains

A plant in the banana family that's closely related to the common banana. They are similar in appearance, with the plantain being longer and maintaining a green color for a lengthier period of time.

Plantains may be eaten raw, but it is more common to cook them, they are also known as 'cooking bananas.' They grow in tropical climates, and were likely imported to Europe from western Asian countries such as India.
